Antje Peters: Illusion

In Illusion, German artist Antje Peters takes a playful, colourful, and ironic approach to the ‘market aesthetics’ and the idealization of commodities through a series of photographic stilleben where the glossiness of the pages hints at the spiritualized shine of the cheap, assembly-line products. Somewhere between sculpture and commercial – with a strong nod to Surrealism – Illusion enacts small displacements in the portrayed products while critically evaluating the very role of photographic representation itself.
